a slow transformation
of land, stone,
studio and home

what we’re building,
learning, and
living into

Living where art meets life

this project is ongoing —
changing daily
seasonally

slowly

you begin before you're ready

notice what tugs at you

new beginnings
new perspectives

I came here not knowing how to build.

I learned working alongside him—
by doing, failing, lifting, trying again.

   somewhere in the process
I realized I could do more than I had imagined

there's something about staying with a thing
until it begins to change you

you start with what you find
what you have
what you understand

what you desire

we learned to look closely

  to accept
  appreciate
  wonder

we unearthed another
way of doing life

the elder senhor collected what landed here and then sold it
at the end of the drive

we tore into it and
began again

he mixed load after load

I swung a sledgehammer
the weight, my momentum

a rhythm came

I stayed

the tides a short walk away
though most days were only effort

a long held dream coming together

we let the unexpected
the inconvenient
bring levity

we adapted

  shifted

some places rebuild you too

life, as it is.

making and living, side by side.

I live where art and life blur.
